Keep Music Alive is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our MISSION is to promote the VALUE of MUSIC: for children's education, for the many types of therapy music is being utilized for and for our overall happiness as a society. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to play music and every adult should be reminded that it's never to late to start playing. To support this mission, Keep Music Alive founded two international music holidays: Teach Music Week and Kids Music Day. Together, we partner with hundreds of music school and retail locations in the US, Canada and around the world to offer free lessons to new students and bring more music to their communities through a variety of events and activities. |
Teach Music Week was launched in 2015 and is held during the 3rd week of March, coinciding with Music in our Schools Month. During Teach Music Week, we partner with music schools, music retail and other music organizations to offer free music lessons to new students - both children and adults. In March 2019, we partnered with 600+ music school and retail locations in twelve countries to offer free music lessons to new students. |
Kids Music Day was launched in 2016 and is held on the first Friday in October. We partner with music schools, music retail and other music organizatons to offer special events celebrating kids playing music. Events held include open houses, student music performances, instrument petting zoos, community jams, instrument donation drives and more. In October 2019, Keep Music Alive partnered with over 750 locations in 12 countries to celebrate the 4th Annual Kids Music Day.
